Moving in lock-step

Yesterday I had one of those great moments in transit that I think a lot of people take for granted. It was Fathers Day and I had to run into the city to get my dad bagels from his favorite place. I decided to drive in just because immediately after I picked up the bagels, I'd be heading to PA and I didn't want to have to stop at the house again to pick up the dog and my overnight stuff.

I left the house at around 11:30, arrived at the bagel place at noon - fully parked only mildly illegally on the same West Village block as it - grabbed the bagels (I had ordered them on Seamless while in traffic in the tunnel), and headed back out the tunnel to PA. I arrived in PA at 2:30 exactly as planned.

Situations like these are probably one of my favorite things about NYC. When the timing is right and you're making your way through your errands in lock-step, it feels incredible. Like a cog in a giant machine but in a good way. Feels even better when you're doing it while also taking the train and having to make transfers.
