Cooking up a personal cellular network
It's raining here this entire weekend so I'm inside for the most part doing chores and fiddling with pet projects. Currently I'm waiting for it to finish building but I'm gonna give srsRAN a try with some devices. Maybe even see if I can get SA 5G running at home.
So far things have gone pretty smoothly. I did a fresh install of Ubuntu and am following the install guide to a T but previous experience has taught me that all the software stacks for this stuff are very finnicky.
What I really wanna try is to turn up TDD LTE or NR in the 2.3 GHz band (B40) because apparently part of that covers a small chunk of the bands available to Ham operators. Would be just lovely to have a small system running at home. Would be even more fun to try and establish a roaming agreement and get my phone running on the network whenever I come home. Not like I need it as my home has great coverage but it would be a fun little project and help me know the process for setting such a thing up at work.
